 ARTsPLACE is an artist-run centre that is administered by ARCAC’s Executive Director under the direction of the Exhibitions Committee. As a gallery is is dedicated to presentation, development, and promotion of contemporary art in this community. ARTsPLACE’s inception is a direct result of ARCAC’s mission to support and encourage serious artistic endeavours at all levels and of all sorts. ARTsPLACE aims to further this mission through a variety of programming initiatives such as exhibitions of work from a variety of artists and regions, presentations, and workshops, as well as our ever-growing reading room. For 25 years, our exhibition schedule has been designed to reflect the role ARCAC plays as intermediary between the broader arts community and the local community. ARTsPLACE is funded in-part by the Artist Run Centres (ARC) program of the Canada Council, the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture, and by volunteer fund-raising endeavours. |
